I was saddened to hear the news about Gareth. I knew him through my work as a council member of the GOC and I have fond memories of Alistair Bridge and myself travelling around Scotland meeting stakeholders with him and learnt a lot about prisons and railways in the process! He loved swimming and when visiting Glasgow once I arranged to swim in Arlington baths a 150 year old swimming pool which he rather enjoyed. I will remember him for his dedication to understanding our sector, his stories, his ability to read a room and connect with people and his smile. I will miss him.
