Gareth was so kind, supportive and keenly passionate for making positive change, and I well remember the many telephone conversations we had. I will greatly miss his many railway and prison service anecdotes which popped up at every opportunity. I found the email which he sent after his farewell in which he summarised the progress made during his tenure. In it, he said ‘We, together with our great team, have contributed to the achievement of all of this’. It was a true team player and this just demonstrated how proud he was of the team GOC. He will be greatly missed.
