My sincere condolences to Gareth's family, friends, colleagues and everyone who knew him. He gave his all to his role as Chair of the GOC, with enthusiasm, intelligence, determination and good humour. His passion for the sector and for the future of eye care was immediately evident, and he welcomed me to the GOC with kindness and generosity, readily sharing his immense knowledge and experience. A remarkable person and lovely human being who will be sadly missed.
